My Philosophy
Look closely. Be patient. Stay open minded. Connect.
For me, photography means holding on to something, only to let it go again in the very next moment. Letting go and allowing things to unfold connects me to life. It keeps me present, guided by emotions, moods, and impulses.
About me
I was born and raised in 1977 in the Alpine city of Chur, Switzerland. The mountains have always been my home. They give me a sense of belonging and, at the same time, a feeling of freedom. I love the evening light on the peaks and the shadows in the valleys. The clear air, the ruggedness, the snow. The silence.
And yet, my longing belongs to the sea. To its vastness and depth, its blues and greens, the white foam, the sound of the waves and their constant movement. I have lived in Zurich since 1998. I love the diversity of people who come together here, the city lights, the scents, the sounds, and the summer.
Although I feel deeply drawn to nature, to vastness and to silence, I love photographing people most of all. I am fascinated by the space that emerges in the process, the delicate balance between closeness and distance, the emotions that surface, the connection that forms — and then dissolves again. For me, photographing people means looking into the mirror myself and connecting with my own emotions. And each time, allowing myself to enter into a process that is entirely unique.
